About Us
Kevin & Marcia Powell and family are one of a few Mulefoot hog suppliers in the country; the pigs in the herd are direct descendants of the R.M. Holliday remnant of Mulefoot pigs preserved in Missouri since the 1940s. Kevin has been raising Mulefoots since 1996. His pigs are fed a ration of corn, oats, and forages which result in a sweet, highly marbled red meat with an exceptional flavor. Slow Food USA has added the Mulefoot to the Slow Food Ark of Taste, which is indicative of the quality of pork in this heritage swine breed.
Mulefoot meat has been featured in a variety of specialty dinners, including repeated "Eat it to save it" dinners at Harvest Restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin and most recently at the Denver, Colorado Cochon 555 competition.
We have a very limited amount of meat available each year--usually 12 to 15 pigs, due to the slow growing nature of these animals. A small amount of package meat is also available at rates from $4 to $8 per pound, plus shipping, from a federally inspected facility. If you are interested in more information, please contact Kevin at kpowell86ATgmailDOTcom.
